Employers
We realize that employers are the driving force of our economy and that’s why the Rapides Business & Career Solutions Center is committed to being business friendly. Whether your business is large with hundreds of workers, or a small operation with a few employees, we have programs and services to meet your needs.
Our professional staff can help you review current labor market information, post job openings, accept applications, perform skills assessments, recommend potential interview candidates, and provide you with the facilities to conduct interviews.
When an individual is referred to you for possible employment, you can take comfort in knowing the individual has been pre-screened and evaluated. Skills assessments may be completed to ensure that you are getting someone who would likely be a good fit for your business. Some of the many services we offer are:
- On-the-Job Training (OJT) – OJT allows employers to receive up to a 50% wage reimbursement for the cost of training new employees. This allows employers to provide training opportunities and direct supervision in a real workplace environment, at a fraction of the cost associated with training a new employee. This service also extends to upgrading the skills of current employees.
- Tax Credits – Valuable tax credits are available which can save money and add to the bottom line. Programs such as Welfare-to-Work and Work Opportunity Tax Credits provide benefits for hiring jobseekers in most need of employment such as:
- short-term welfare recipients
- veterans receiving food stamps
- 18-24 year old food stamp recipients
- 18-24 year old residents in Empowerment Zones or Enterprise Communities (EZ/EC)
- Vocational Rehabilitation referrals
- 16-17 year old EZ/EC residents hired as Summer Youth employees.
- Free job vacancy listings – Avoid spending large sums of money to advertise your vacancies. Your listings are free, available anytime for applicants to see and completely under your control to make changes.
- A huge searchable applicant pool is available for you to search for possible job candidates. Your search criteria are controlled by you and can be instructed to search for candidates when you are busy with other tasks. If a match is found, it will notify you.
- Customized recruitment strategies including job fairs
- Incumbent Worker Training Program is a three-way partnership between the Louisiana Workforce Commission, business and industry, and training providers. This program was designed to benefit employers by assisting in the skill development of current employees, which could lead to increased employee productivity and company growth. The IWTP reimburses employers up to 50% of the training costs.
